The AERES GUITAR QUARTET was founded in 2021 by the four guitarists Liss Alva (Wangen i. A., Germany), Margaréta Lakner (Szeged, Hungary), Masha Sova (St. Petersburg, Russia), and Luisa Khandro (Augsburg, Germany) during their studies at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden. Over four years of studying together and performing numerous concerts, the ensemble developed its distinctive sound.
The four musicians are united by a shared passion for exploring new sound worlds on the guitar and expanding the traditional boundaries of the instrument. Their repertoire continues to grow through their own arrangements and compositions, ranging from groovy to atmospheric in character.

At the heart of their music-making lie curiosity, creativity, and the vibrant joy of performing together – an energy that is immediately transmitted to their audience.

The musicians

Liss Alva received her first guitar lessons at the age of seven at the Jugendmusikschule Württembergisches Allgäu in Wangen im Allgäu. Since 2021, she has been studying at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden, where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Classical Guitar in July 2025. Since autumn 2025, she has been continuing her studies in two parallel Master’s programmes in Music Education and Acoustic Guitar, with graduation planned for 2027.
In addition to her musical work, she designs and sews the quartet’s concert outfits. Recently, she also discovered her enthusiasm for the harp and has begun to explore the instrument.

Margaréta Lakner began playing the guitar in Hungary at the age of nine and received early classical training on the concert guitar, including several years at a music high school in Szeged. In 2019, she began her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Dresden. After completing her bachelor’s degree in 2024, she is expected to finish her master’s degree in Classical Guitar in the coming year.
She started composing at an early age and has received several awards, including the Audience Prize at the European Guitar Awards and the Prize for Best Composition at the Haspa Guitar Cup in 2024. In the same year, she released her first work, “Zenosyne,” published by Acoustic Music Books.

Masha Sova began playing the guitar at the age of nine in her hometown of St. Petersburg, Russia. At 17, she moved to Hungary to study classical guitar. After completing her first bachelor’s degree there, she decided to further develop her musical skills. She therefore began her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden in 2021.
She is expected to complete her second bachelor’s degree this year and is currently preparing to begin a subsequent master’s programme.

Luisa Khandro has had the guitar as a constant companion since the age of five. She received her first lessons at the music school in Neusäß near Augsburg before continuing her studies with Stephan Schmidt. Since 2021, she has been studying at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden and was supported for one year in 2022 through the Deutschlandstipendium. She is currently a scholarship holder of the Cusanuswerk.
She is expected to complete her studies in Dresden this year and continue her education in another city.
